What is CrossFit
CrossFit is a fitness concept that encompasses several exercise modalities into a new sport, and that’s why it’s referred to as “the sport of fitness”. CrossFit combines gymnastics, Olympic lifting, cardio, etc with the ideal of becoming the fittest possible and ready for the unknown and unpredictable. CrossFit is a community of people who have decided that common is not good enough, that have set out to become the strongest and fittest they could be.
The CrossFit lifestyle separates us from what the mainstream fitness industry has sold us the past 75 years: doing chest and biceps one day, back and triceps the next, 3 sets of 3 exercises per muscle, etc. CrossFit not only combines exercises and possibilities in totally different and constantly varied ways but you work the body as whole and not isolated muscles. Also, it takes us away from the mental requirement that to work out you need expensive machines, air conditioning, and televisions. In CrossFit you walk in…and after 3, 2, 1…Go there is not time to watch tv or pose in the mirror. It is a commitment to improve yourself and persevere.
...So WHAT IS CrossFit PTY?
CrossFit PTY is a community first of all. We learned early on two basic themes: that it wasn’t about ourselves and our skills but those of the client, and that CrossFit as a sport is free with WODs posted daily on 2500 web pages around the world, what makes the different is the coaching, the community, and the comfort of our clients…so we set out to build our dream of what a CrossFit Box should be. It has always been about passion!!!
CrossFit PTY is not only exercise, its a lifestyle!!!
Who can do CrossFit?
EVERYBODY can do CrossFit!
In CrossFit we only use functional movements, which we can define as those movements that the human body is designed to do: jump, duck, pull, push, climb, etc. These are the movements that Mother Nature gave us the ability and commitment to perform as human beings. Unfortunately this commitment has been broken, and each day we are more sedentary and sicker. The WODs are scalable. Everybody uses the weight and intensity they choose: We correct the movement and the posture first, to avoid any injuries, and only then can we motivate you to push yourself a little bit more.
CrossFit has a lot of meanings and the truth is that nobody can define it the same. Some begin CrossFit to recover from an injury, others to get ripped, and others to feel better, mobile, combat being sedentary, and old age. CrossFit is a concept, a philosophy, a grassroots movement, a sport, a network of support, and a lifestyle.
CrossFit is the best thing that has happened to many lives, it might change yours too!
